Please attend Common Ground Wellness Center’s first Trans/GenderQueer night on Wed, Sept. 1 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Who: Transgendered, gender-nonconforming, and genderqueer individuals, their partners and/or friends. (Allies, we love you, but you cannot attend this event unless you are attending with a community member.)

What: A spacious outdoor hot tub and large cedar sauna in a calm, quiet environment. CGWC provides a relaxing, clothing-optional, non-sexual space.

When: Wednesday, September 1 from 7PM to 11PM. CGWC has committed to hosting a trans/GQ night the first Wednesday of every month! If the response from the community merits it, CGWC hopes to make this a weekly event.  This clothing-optional hot tub and sauna is an amazing place, and if there’s enough interest, they’ll make trans/GQ night a weekly event!

How (much): $8 for half an hour or $14 for an hour. CGWC also has a very generous volunteer program which allows you to earn passes. You can rent towels for a small fee, and you can leave valuables at the front desk. Just remember to BRING PHOTO ID – they keep it in case you have a medical problem.

Why: To enjoy an evening of transgendered, gender-nonconforming, and genderqueer company, to feel free to strip down to your skin in the outdoors and relax in a spa setting without fear, and to support a local business reaching out to us!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Ideally, everyone you see at trans/GQ night will be a member of our community – including staff members! CGWC hopes to have volunteers from our community manning the front desk, providing tours of the grounds, and performing periodic water tests. (Volunteers needed!)

Worried that you’ll have to choose the “men’s” or “women’s” dressing room before you get to the fabulous hot tub? Nope! The building itself is unsegregated. All attendees use the same dressing room, communal shower, and two spacious unlabeled private bathrooms. Everything, from the building layout to CGWC’s low-key approach to “co-ed” nudity, is ideal for trans/GQ comfort.

You may soak and sauna in as many or as few clothes as you want. The area is enclosed by being in the enclosed courtyard of the CGWC building, affording attendees complete privacy from outside eyes as well as a beautiful view of the evening sky.

Below is a list of projects we will be working on during that week.  Unfortunately, it is not feasible to install a cold plunge tub as the cost range for that is between $10,000 and $20,000 and we do not have the money.  We also have plans to install a drinking fountain outside next to the hot tub.  The drinking fountain needs to ADA accessible, frost free (as it will be outside) and up to all current codes.

The available rooms for rent are in a beautiful historic house in NE Portland, conveniently located in the Kerns Neighborhood and close to the quaint and bustling Laurelhurst neighborhood.  CGWC practitioners are dedicated to improving the health and wellness of our community and providing high quality, diverse healing modalities to the public.
